Is it possible to repair the MBT bearing?
In most case it is possible to repair the MBT bearing. However, if there is damage to the electrical motor, it should be replaced.
Does Colibri design and manufacture spindles for customer request?
Yes, Colibri designs and manufactures spindles for customer request
Does the MBT technology limit for special motor type?
No, it is possible to implement the MBT technology within many motor type: AC, DC and more.
What is influencing the spindle stiffness and maximum load capacity allowed?
The bearing dimensions influencing the spindle stiffness and maximum load capacity allowed. The bearing dimensions influenced from the motor type, however, it is possible to change the bearing dimension for a specific motor, and to improve the spindle specifications. The MBT technology allow designer to improve the spindle specification, within a smaller spindle dimensions.
What is the advantages in manufacturing a small spindle?
The advantages in manufacturing a small spindle are the high self frequencies - low vibrations amplitude, low spindle weight and low cost of ownership.
This advantages help machine designer to manufacture compact machine within low cost of ownership.
What is influencing on the spindle life cycle?
An un reverse shaft damage, caused by bending strain, during long spindle operating near self frequencies reduce the spindle life cycle. The MBT technology increased the shaft self-frequencies. As a result the vibrations amplitude and the bending strain decreased, therefore the spindle life cycle increased !
What is the cooling liquid?
Treated fur water is often used as the cooling liquid. Air is also an option for cooling the spindle, however, the maximum speed rotation and the maximum load will decreased.
Is it possible to use special nose to clamp a tool to a spindle ?
Yes. It is possible to design a unique shaft nose for customer request, as a results from the spindle type and customer end user application.
What is influencing the stability of the speed rotation?
The stability of the speed rotation influenced mainly from the spindle driver.
Is it possible to use an aerostatic spindle in a wet environment?
Yes, it is possible to operate most of Colibri spindles in a wet | environment. In some cases a spindle cover should be adapted.
When I want to discontent the brushes and the shaft, I put the BC in VENTILATED condition. However, I found out that there is still electrical contact between the shaft and, I think, with the spindle body also. It seems like the brush is still contacting the shaft
a) Please make sure that the air supply in the "BC Inlet Fitting", is between 1.1 to 1.2 bar. The best way to calibrate the Brushes system (it was calibrate at Colibri) is to close the "BC Adjusting Valve", and then to use an Voltmeter to measure the request resistant, and calibrate it to the right value by adjusting the "BC Adjusting Valve" respectively.
b) Please make sure that the "Sensor Outlet Fitting" is open, and the pipe (at least 6 [mm] diameter) length you connect to it is not more than 0.5 [m].
To activate the sensor brush, I put the BC (brush control) in SEALED condition, but we found out the sensor is not just having electrical contact with the shaft, it even contacts the body of the spindle which has given the wrong signal to my controller
a) Please make sure the customer is using clean air (filtered to 0.01 micron)
b) Please make sure the customer is using dry air
c) Please make sure the air supply to the spindle, at the entrance NEAR the spindle is more than 5 [bar]
d) If you used a non treated air \ or the spindle was contaminated by small particles, it might be that we will have to fix it at colibri.
